@Thaddeus, Deborah and geozilla - Happy to see we have some readers with a fine taste in art. If you have any more suggestions or photos of Alex's work or want to recommend other artists we might like, hit me up or post here.

Yes, a very enjoyable collection. I started gathering it back in the 80's while Alex was still leading the Art Department at Chicago's First Publishing (NEXUS, GRIMJACK, BADGER...).
The first time I saw Wald he was critiquing a freshly painted, still wet and volatile painting that Steve Rude had just shipped to the offices for Nexus. Brilliant, eye he has...well, both Rude and Wald.
Also, Mr.Wald has quite a collection of rare Japanese toys and posters. He's a true archivist.
Thanks you for posting his work!

Alex Wald possesses an acute, rare artistic talent seldom employed, yet much needed in todays' creative market. His art is evocative and original, heads and shoulders beyond the source material that is the subject of pieces. His critical eye is penetrates beneath the layers of the work presented by other artist; nothing escapes the keen knowledge of illustrative history and technique he possesses. Seeing his work has always been one of my most consistent pleasures. Several of his original pieces, in my collection, have been much sought after by other collectors...
Bravo Alex! Bravo Brainwave!

Alex is a brilliant artist. He shows innovative design and a sexiness that is missing from many other's pieces. He is highly underrated and doesn't get nearly enough press. Thanks for recognizing his genius and bringing it to all of our attention! Bravo Alex!
